Ocean Course is Hilton Head’s first golf course and it still stands near the top of our list - It's a great part of any South Carolina golf package.
The Ocean Course blends tradition with classic course elements and seaside charm…it’s another superb course that surrounds a golfer with nature.
This course will appeal to all players and with the position of hazards and varying tees, it is easily a course that can be played more than once.
In 1995 Mark McCumber redesigned The Ocean Course, which is also one of the few Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary courses in South Carolina.
The signature hole here would be the 15th with its unbeatable ocean views.
6) Arthur Hills in Palmetto Hall

Arthur Hills in Palmetto Hall is a favorite of many golfers. It delivers Hill’s classic rolling hill fairways with challenging play that’s consistent throughout.
Golfers here will benefit from recent & completely rebuilt Champion Grass greens – it’s made an excellent course even better!
Arthur Hills has water hazards, beautiful lakes and endless bunkers - and it’s all surrounded by pine forests and oaks covered in Spanish Moss.
The signature hole at Arthur Hills in Palmetto Hall is a par-4 18th. Overall the course is fair but demanding with scenic views that are inspiring. A top choice to include in a South Carolina golf package.
7) Robber’s Row
Location: Port Royal Plantation, north-island Hilton Head

Robber’s Row in Port Royal is about the most interesting course you can find. It’s exciting golf play that mingles with history.
Robber’s Row is built upon Civil War grounds and historical markers dot this gorgeous course.
George Cobb and Pete Dye built Robber’s Row in 1967 & Pete Dye re-designed the course in ’94.
Beyond history, the setting for Robber’s Row is also scenic lowcountry - with Magnolias and live oaks throughout the course. Another strong course for a South Carolina golf package.
The signature hole on Robber’s Row is the short par-4 14th. Here you’ll need an approach shot over marsh that lies in front of the green.
Accuracy on this heavily bunkered course is important since the greens are not very forgiving.
8) Shipyard Golf Club

Shipyard Golf Club offers much variety with three separate nine-hole courses…and our recommendation is (if possible) play the Clipper and Galleon nines to make your 18 hole round.
This pick will serve you with thrilling play that includes lengthy fairways and some pretty rough hazards.
Shipyard was the original home of the Hilton Head Seniors International and was rated one of the finest layouts on the PGA Senior Tour.
The signature hole here would be the 9th with the clubhouse in the background.
Magnolias, oaks and pines provide an atmosphere of southern style to this rewarding course.
9) Hilton Head National

Hilton Head National provides good solid enjoyable golf and the condition of the course is never less than excellent.
Hilton Head National has 18 holes designed by golf legend Gary Player and nine holes in the classic design of Bobby Weed.
The course sets out to be playable yet challenging – and it really scores in accomplishing this goal. The superb nature setting here is free of course-side homes, noise.
Multiple tees offer variety with few hazards in the line of play. Fairways and bunkers are set-up in such a way to allow golfers of every level a very pleasing golf experience.
One of the signatures of Hilton Head National is the massive double green on the 9th and 18th holes of the original layout.
Hilton Head National is another course that is located just off the island – no more than 10 minutes from the bridge. It’s great golf at a great price and a smart inclusion for a local South Carolina golf package vacation.
10) Oyster Reef

Oyster Reef in Hilton Head Plantation is an award-winning Rees Jones designed course that frequently lands on top of the list for South Carolina golf package listings.
This Hilton Head golf course opened in 1982, this is a scenic championship course that makes great use of natural bunkers, doglegs and elevated greens.
Oyster Reef incorporates the breathtaking low country landscape – with marshes, lagoons and abundant plant life.
The signature hole here would be the 6th which open right up to the beautiful Port Royal Sound.
Surrounded by trees, the course challenges all varieties of golfers by offering clever play and subtle difficulties that earn Oyster Reef high markings by local golf enthusiasts.
