Pet Friendly Hilton Head. Top Spots for You & Your Pet

Pet Friendly Hilton Head means you will not have to leave your best friend in the kennel the next time you take a trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Hilton Head provides an amazing vacation experience not only for singles, couples, and families, but also for pets.

Hilton Head is indeed one of the most welcoming and pet-friendly vacation destinations anywhere.

A great place for large & small dogs to socialize (and have fun) is Best Friends Dog Park, which is located right off Hwy. 278 at Singleton Beach Road. There is even an isolated section for little dogs - as well as water fountains for all...just be sure not to leave any valuables in your vehicle while parked.

Get a detailed selection of the pet-friendly villa scene right here. Not only can you see pictures of properties, but you can also find out lots of specifics.

Some villas only offer one floor (while the other floor(s) are rented out to someone else). However, please remember if a home or villa does not say whether they are pet-friendly or not, then they probably are not.

While not all of the attractions of the island will allow you to bring your pet with you, the beaches are accessible to you and your pet excluding the busy summer season. The schedule for pets on the beach is as follows:

January-April – Pets Allowed (No Leash Necessary) April-Just prior to Memorial Day Weekend – Pets Allowed (Must be on a Leash), Memorial Day-Labor Day – No Pets Allowed After Labor Day-October – Pets Allowed (Must be on a Leash) October-January – Pets Allowed (No Leash Necessary)

Please note that if your pet is off their leash, they must be controlled by you. You are required by law to clean up after your pet in any public place, the beach included.

When you get right to it, "Pet Friendly Hilton Head" pretty much means just dogs, so ... pets like lizards, cats, birds, bunnies, hamsters, and guinea pigs can be removed from your guest list.

Pet friendly Hilton Head lodging is available in both villas and home rentals across the island. Many of the owners of these properties own dogs themselves.

The rules for pet rental vary slightly depending on the owner of the property, though there is typically a non-refundable pet fee that must be paid prior to your visit. The typical fee for villas is $75.00. The fee for homes is around $200.00.

Please know the rules of the beach prior to going there with your pet. You can throw Frisbees, sticks, and balls, but only in designated areas. So, make sure you know the rules before heading off to the beach.

If you prefer to stay on dry land with your pet, your dog can receive plenty of exercise as you run along the dog walks that wind around the island.

Of course, if you have a lazy dog, they can cool down at the beautiful home you have rented or relax near the backyard pool as you take a dip.

If you want to explore the island, but do not want to leave your pet alone unattended in your rental home, you can hire one of the island’s pet care services to watch your dog for you.

Prices will vary for this service, but if you worry about your pet’s anxiety at being alone in a new setting (which can lead to destructive behavior) this is probably your best bet. Otherwise, you will not get the chance to explore certain parts of our pet friendly Hilton Head Island.
