Hilton Head Weather:
Picking the Right Season is Key
Winter
Enjoy a Hilton Head holiday season? Why not – December is a great time to be on the island too. It’s quite, calm and very much easier to move around the Lowcountry area.

January and February can be a bit dicey weather-wise, but we do get some days that are real gems. Pleasant days of 70 degrees, with no humidity are not unheard of.

The big advantage of this time of year also is great rates for golf, tennis and of course nice hotels at rock-bottom prices.

Be sure to do a take a quick look at a breakdown of the Hilton Head weather averages by month - including highs & lows to expect during your vacation.

Spring
Most vacationers will agree that springtime on Hilton Head is as close to perfect as you can get…

It’s not too hot and not too cold. The azaleas are in full bloom, a flood of community events begins and tourism goes full throttle. It's a busy time, but the weather and humidity have not yet heated up.

Although Hilton Head is busy, there’s something very peaceful in the air - and the Hilton Head weather is mild.

Summer
Ahh summer – time to sit back and enjoy your favorite Hilton Head Beach.

The humidity is usually high and the heat index can easily break 100 degrees, but man, there’s hardly a better place to catch up on reading, boating, fishing, dining out or maybe just being lazy in our southern sunshine.

Just make sure you have lined up a way to stay cool ... and if the heat is too much for you just pick another Hilton Head season – they all are good!
Fall
You won’t find lots of autumn colors during our fall season. What you will find is a nice reprieve from the more intense summer weather – but it still stays warm enough.

… and for many, the warm-not-hot Hilton Head weather means even better golfing, fishing and milder beach-going weather.

One noticeable effect of the popularity of the fall season is that the “tourist season” seems to go a bit longer every year. What used to wrap-up at summers-end, now stretches well into the November.
