It’s been true for years - Hilton Head restaurants number in the hundreds. That’s an astounding amount of dining out than can be accomplished on a fairly small island.
We list a boiled-down version of favorite Hilton Head restaurants on this page. These choices come from newspaper and magazine award winners, long-time locals, Hilton Head vacationers, friends - and of course our own opinions.
As is true with the rest of this website, choices may change and listings will expand to other pages…but for now, we start our list of top Hilton Head restaurants, going from one end of the island to the other.
South-Island Hilton Head Restaurants
CQ’s in Sea Pines’ Harbourtown
is a long-time favorite of many. It’s tucked away a few hundred feet from the lighthouse – almost in the woods actually. The atmosphere is very cozy and the food is top notch mixed American fare. People tend to dress nicely when dining here. $$$
The Quarter Deck
right at the Harbourtown lighthouse gives you perhaps the best view from the island – right over the Calibogie Sound. When the sun sets it is magnificent. The food has gone from okay in past years to really good now. Nice ambience. American fare with a good bit of seafood in the mix. Friendly bar and outdoor seating also available here. Casual Dress. $$$
Truffles in Sea Pines
At the Sea Pines Center shopping area is a longtime favorite of locals aged about 35 +. It’s great for lunch and dinner with a nice selection of different style entrees for lunch and dinner. Cozy atmosphere and nice bar too. Casual Dress and up. $$$

The Smokehouse
is outside plantation gates and right at Coligny Circle. It’s a great place for southern-style barbeque – by this we mean pulled pork. With a selection of awesome sauces and other award-winning fare, like their dry-rub ribs and really nice smoked & glazed wings. Neat bar too. Open lunch & dinner. Very casual dress is cool. $$
The Sea Shack
is always busy and with good reason. Locals know it and thanks to Rachel Ray’s “$40 a Day” TV show, so does everyone else. A great place for down home seafood, shellfish, hush puppies, etc. It’s a small place with very casual non-fancy surroundings. It has a busy lunch and dinner so be prepared to wait a little bit when you get here. $$

Located off New Orleans’ Road is a delicious upscale Italian restaurant. The service is stellar and the food always consistent – whether you get steak or a seafood dish. The wine selection is also unbeatable here. Dress up and be ready to have a memorable evening. $$$$
