Driessen Beach is a family beach with play area, the best of Hilton Head Island Beaches

Our list of Hilton Head Island beaches ranks Driessen Beach as the third best beach – but put it on top of your list if your kids want a cool playground area.

This Hilton Head beach is located mid-island and has lots of parking – second only to Coligny - but the boardwalk goes on forever.

Driessen Beach is located off of Highway 278 at the end of Bradley Beach Road.

Keep in mind that Bradley Beach Road can be VERY easily missed and there is no traffic light at the intersection, so drive slowly & carefully as you turn off of Hwy 278.

As far as Hilton Head Island beaches go, Driessen is actually kind of hidden away. I‘ve even talked to many locals who have heard of this family beach, but have never visited.

For such a tucked away spot, you’ll be surprised when Bradley Beach Road delivers you to a HUGE parking lot and really nice playground facilities – not to mention a lovely, large and quiet stretch of beach.

HOT TIP:

A “deal killer” for many is the very long walk down the boardwalk. You’ll have to travel far before you reach the large stretch of gorgeous Hilton Head beach.

So be ready for the walk, and you’ll be treated to nice marsh views - and million dollar real estate - before you reach the beach.

Parking

There are 209 metered parking spots with 6 of them reserved for handicap parking.

You must use a parking metering system - the cost is 25 cents for 15 minutes and a parking ticket machine is located at the bathroom facility area.

Rentals / Recreation

Driessen Beach does not offer rental services or recreation areas.

Enjoy this beautiful location. It's one of the top Hilton Head Island beaches...

Food & Amenities

There is at least one grill here (bring your own charcoal), as well as several picnic tables.

Driessen Beach also has showers, water fountains, restrooms and vending machines…but again remember that you will have a long walk from the beach.

The playground areas are close to the parking lot - before you get to the boardwalk.

For folks in wheelchairs, you'll find a seasonal wheelchair mat that covers parts of the sand, making the shoreline more accessible.
