This Hilton Head Island beach is located towards the island’s north end.
Folly Field Beach offers a bit more quiet than you would get from our number one beach pick, Coligny Beach on Hilton Head.
One nice thing about Folly Field beach is that it is a very short walk from where you park, to where the beach is.
Folly Field Beach is located off a major mid-island intersection of Highway 278 & Folly Field Road.
Turn down Folly Field Road and drive about a quarter mile untill you reach the road’s end. There you’ll find beach parking.
Folly Field is a popular local’s beach, and a nice spot for vacationers to get a way from the more hectic pace of Coligny Beach.
A quick walk down the boardwalk will deliver you to this beautiful expanse of peaceful beach.
For folks in wheelchairs, you'll find a seasonal wheelchair mat that covers parts of the sand, making the shoreline more accessable.
Although the amenities are sparse, there are of course still restrooms, plus outdoor showers, a water fountain and soda machines.
Parking
There are 54 metered parking spots with about 15 of them being very close and the rest also nearby.
Two spots are reserved for handicap parking.
You must use parking meters - the cost is 25 cents for 15 minutes during the day.
There are no other places to park beyond these designated areas due to the fact that you are basically surrounded by a residential neighborhood.

The Westin does have a outdoor snack bar, along with an attached casual indoor bar/dining area. This is seasonal so check with the hotel if you plan to make this trek.
The Westin’s nearby pool and hot tub will also look inviting, and of course there are also more upscale eating establishments inside the hotel.
The beach adjacent to the Westin does offer chair, umbrella and paddle boat rentals to hotel guests.
If you're looking for a ocean-oriented bar and don't want to crash the upscale Westin pool area, try the Poolside Bar & Grill at the Beach & Tennis Resort.
It's on the border to Folly Field Beach. To get there just turn right - or south - when you get off the Folly Field Beach walkway. Walk about 200 yards and look for the bar just past the sand dunes. It operates on a seasonal schedule.
