Hilton Head Events & Festivals. Always Things-to-Do on The Island
Hilton Head Events are plentiful! The island has a lot to offer, which is why so many people visit each year. No matter what time of the year it is, there are always plenty of local festivals for you to enjoy.

Attractions, sporting opportunities, and day trips are fun, but to get a flavor for what the island has to offer, you may want to look into what local events are going on during your visit.

Many Hilton Head events are planned by the Hilton Head Hospitality Association. The Association’s calendar is filled all year round, so no matter when you visit you should have the chance to experience something exciting besides the usual tourist attractions.

Food is not the only thing the taste of the season offers. Festivalgoers can enter a 52-card grand raffle and have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction. The auction offers plenty of opportunity to get special Christmas presents for loved ones this year.

Auction items include merchandise from local businesses, gift certificates, spa and vacation packages, gift baskets, and more. The grand raffle provides the winner with dinner for two for an entire year.


Coastal Cajun Festival
Start the summer off right with the Coastal Cajun festival. Celebrate Cajun culture on Hilton Head. Held at the end of May, the Coastal Cajun Festival is held throughout the day in the Shelter Cove Community Park.

The Coastal Cajun Festival costs $5 per person though children under the age of twelve get in free. The Cajun Festival provides plenty of spicy entertainment performances, authentic Cajun cuisine, and fun activities the entire family can enjoy.


SpringFest
SpringFest is held in March, around the time many other festivals are being held. The SpringFest, just as its name implies, celebrates Spring. In fact, SpringFest is the name for multiple festivals that are held throughout the entire month of March, it's not just one Hilton Head event.

The SpringFest festivals include the aforementioned Wine Festival. Other activities and festivals that are held are an international food-tasting event, cooking classes, the Hilton Head Shamrock 5K Run, and a St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

The SpringFest lineup has become a tradition in Hilton Head that both residents and visitors look forward to every year.


Chili Cook Off Celebration
The Chili Cook Off is held annually in the Fall on Hilton Head. This is one of the best Chili Cook Offs on the East Coast - It's an awesome Hilton Head event boasting close to 30 local chefs with nearly twenty chefs, in the last few years, competing in the CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International) chili tournament.

The cook off is the only one of its kind in the entire state of South Carolina. The best, the hottest, and the most unique chili you will ever taste are available for you to sample.



The Hilton Head events mentioned are not the only festivals or events that are held on Hilton Head. Festivals, celebrations, outdoor activities, and sports tournaments are held all year round.

Hilton Head WineFest
The crème de la crème of festivals that are held in Hilton Head is the Hilton Head WineFest. The 22nd annual WineFest will occur in March of 2007. The WineFest is held outdoors. Hilton Head WineFest is the largest wine tasting festival on the East Coast that is held outdoors.

Festival goers do not have to worry about getting too wet if it rains. WineFest is held inside outdoor tents to allow WineFest to be held even if the sun is not shining.

At WineFest, expect to sample one of over fifteen hundred different wines, which are available both domestically and internationally. Other exciting aspects of this festival include stellar entertainment, and the accompaniment of gourmet meals with your wine.

The WineFest is held in the Shelter Cove Community Park. To attend, you will need tickets, which currently cost $30 per person. For that price, you not only receive your admission pass, which includes entry into all entertainment venues and wine tastings, but you also receive a souvenir wine glass.

Native Islander Gullah Celebration
In the early days on the island of Hilton Head, a group of West African slaves were brought on slave ships to the new world. These ships were sent directly to the coastal islands off South Carolina and Georgia. After slavery had ended a group of descendents of the natives, known by the language they spoke called Gullah, lived on their own land on Hilton Head.

The rich history and spirituality of the Gullah natives and their many struggles is preserved through this annual celebration. The 11th annual Island Gullah Celebration will be held in February of 2007.

This Hilton Head event explores Gullah history and culture through food, arts, crafts, and more. Throughout the month of February, various activities and events are being held across Hilton Head island with all of them leading up to the Island Gullah Celebration at the end of the month.
Taste of the Season Festival
An extremely popular Hilton Head event is the Taste of the Season. This event is so popular that tickets for it sell out.

Its important to get tickets to Taste of the Season as soon as you can if you wish to attend. Tickets cost $30.

The Taste of the Season offers a gourmet bouquet of the most intoxicating and mouthwatering foods from 30+ local restaurants in and around Hilton Head Island.

It is held at the Sea Pines Country Club in the month of November. Members of the Hilton Head community use the festival as the start of the winter holiday season.
