The marina, known as the Harbour Town Yacht Basin, provides a place for boaters to dock for the duration of their visit to Habourtown. This is one of the most popular ways visitors travel to the island.
The marina features a grocery shop, shopping center, deli, and restaurants. Those who travel by land can rent a fishing charter, if they want to head out to sea. Those who want to go swimming can check out the nearby pool as well as take a dip in the ocean at the nearby beach.
One of the most magical parts of the entire Harbortown experience is a visit to Liberty Oaks and the Charles Fraser Statue. Fraser was quite important to the founding of Habourtown and the progression of Hilton Head into the tourist attraction it is today.
Having purchased 19,000 acres of land, Fraser founded a resort and plantation that is now known as Sea Pines Resort and Plantation. Fraser also helped build the first bridge connecting Hilton Head to the mainland.
However, in many residents and visitors eyes, Fraser’s shining moment came when he fought to save the Liberty Oaks. This ancient tree was preserved thanks to his efforts, during the founding years of Harbourtown. Today, the tree is one of the most visited parts of the island. People enjoy the peaceful serenity it provides as they sit beneath its branches.
If the attractions of Harbor Town simply are not enough, there are plenty of activities from arts and crafts to sporting events at the Sea Pines Resort. Visitors to Harbour Town can stay at the Harbour Town Inn, which is a part of the resort, or they can rent a custom decorated villa or house in the area.
Harbourtown is known for the many excellent shopping venues available to visitors such as the Habourtown Toys Shop and the Linda Hartough Golf Gallery. However, the dining, lodging, sports activities, and attractions are what keep visitors coming back to Harbour Town year after year.
